'NIX': The Story So Far

NIX was created in 2007 to design and make digital photo frames uniquely suited to a more sophisticated taste.  Founded and owned by its parent company 'Creedon Technologies', Nix was able to use British design and technical expertise to make better frames. To date, NIX is still the only UK company making Digital Photo Frames of their own design and specification (other UK brands merely import and “brand their frames”).

Our frames are currently sold in the UK, Germany and the USA. An example of our product popularity would be on amazon.co.uk, the largest retailer of Digital Picture Frames in the UK where NIX frames persistently rank as the top selling digital photo frame models. NIX frames are only available online as this allows for direct delivery of high specification frames to end consumers, thus reducing the prices one would expect to pay on the high street.

We have a well-balanced team of passionate staff who are committed to providing customers with frames based on several core values for our products and service:

Style & Texture

When our designers first started looking at Digital Photo Frames, They noticed that nearly all existing models consisted of digital photo frames made of low quality plastic, all styled in plain bland designs; manufacturers saw their digital frames as mini televisions.

Our designers wanted to deliver on two important style promises: firstly that the gorgeous people in your photo’s are framed in a suitable nice frame, and secondly that the frame blends in with your stylish home.

An important facet of our design was also to illiminate the ugly plastic remote sensors that other manufacturers stick on the front of their frames.

Superior Components
From a technical stand point there are three key components:

1. The LCD Screen

LCD screens come in a wide range of qualities.  You definitely tend to get what you pay for.  The standard number of pixels on a 7 inch digital photo frame is 480 x 234 pixels.  Where our LCD screen differs is in two main aspects.  Firstly our LCD screens are ‘backlit’ meaning that our screens are brighter.  Secondly, our LCD screens are colour contrast and brightness controllable.  We’re aware that many of your favourite photos are taken at evening parties or events where your photos can be a bit dark.  With a backlit LCD screen and brightness controls, you can compensate for low light levels in your photos.

2. The Image Processor Chip (sometimes called the solution chip)

We’ll be brief about this as we know we’re heading into geek territory.  Simply put the better the processor, the better the reproduction of photo.  Benefits of our frames processors are:

1> Larger format photo’s can be displayed – up to 16 mega pixels (some cheaper models

can only go as high a 5MP – 7MP, but of course they won’t tell you that).

2> A menu system that can be navigated faster (because a faster processor won’t stall)

3> More features like being able to view all your photos in thumbnail format allowing you               to browse

4> Last, but not least better colour reproduction, as the displaying of a wide range of                  colours takes more processing power.

3. Memory Storage Function

Typically digital photo frames don’t have any inbuilt memory, you just stick your memory card in.  On Nix frames as well as having memory card slots, we have inbuilt memory.  With the inbuilt Internal Memory you can simply drag and drop your favourite photos onto the frames memory, thus allowing you to keep your memory card in your camera where it belongs.

Simplicity

Nix digital picture frames are designed to be simple to use.  We believe we’ve managed to make the menu system so easy to navigate you don’t need a remote control with a multitude of buttons.  By removing the need for a remote control we’ve managed to remove the nasty plastic remote control sensor that other digital photo frames have had to build into their frames.

Unlike other brands user manuals which are typically large and written by someone in China.  Our user manuals are written by Brits for Brits, easy to
read and concise.
