Unique memory aids for the elderly.

The concept is simple. Our ‘Hu-Motion’ frame is a High-Resolution Digital Picture Frame built with a Motion Detection Sensor.

The way it works is that when a person enters the room the frame is located, or within a range of 2.5 Metres, the frame will detect motion and automatically power itself on.

It will play a photographic slideshow or a video for a certain interval that you can determine. After sensing no movement, it will switch itself off and conserve energy.

The idea is that once content is loaded onto the frame, a person rarely has to touch it. The frame does all the work.

The philosophy of the traditional paper photograph and nowadays the Digital Picture Frame, is that it acts as a gateway to evoking one’s memories about a person, a place or a time that was important to them. This is undoubtedly a concept that all friends or relatives of those with memory loss  can relate to. It is very common to see a patient’s home or residence filled with photo’s of the past, that serve a function as reminiscence aids.

So, imagine if you can add a large collection of important photograph’s on the Internal Memory of the frame and set the Motion Detection system so that it only switches on when the patient enters the room.  At this point, your imagination can start to really flow.  It might not just be photos of the patient in younger years that come up on the slideshow.  It could be their daughter, their grand-son, their favorite car, the list is endless.

To take this further, you could design your own special picture with text messages perhaps reminding the patient to perform daily tasks.  All of this can be achieved and saved into a picture slideshow that can be played in sequential order or in random shuffle mode.
